Rob Weir
President of Game Time Officials
President of Game Time Officials
Rob Weir serves as President of Game Time Officials and is a baseball umpire, assignor, trainer, and administrator with extensive experience developing officials and coordinating baseball operations throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
Rob began umpiring at just 13 years old and has remained involved in officiating throughout his life. His on-field experience spans youth baseball through varsity high school, college summer baseball, and competitive adult baseball. He continues to work games at several levels, which keeps him connected to the challenges and expectations facing today's umpires.
Rob has played a central role in the continued growth of GTO into one of the largest and fastest-growing umpire organizations in the Northwest. As GTO has grown, so has its geographic reach and the number of leagues, schools, tournaments, and baseball programs it serves. On many weekends, GTO is responsible for coordinating umpire coverage for multiple organizations and events taking place simultaneously across different cities and regions.
In addition to his role with GTO, Rob serves as Director of Umpires and Event Coordinator for West Coast Premier Tournaments. Major WCP tournament weekends can involve hundreds of games spread across numerous facilities and multiple markets, requiring coordination between assignors, UICs, site directors, tournament staff, and officials.
Separately, Rob serves as the umpire assignor for the Wild West League, coordinating officials for summer collegiate baseball.
As Director of Spotlight Baseball, Rob leads the development and coordination of the college showcase program, working with college programs, coaches, facilities, and travel organizations to create competitive events and exposure opportunities for high school players throughout the region.
Umpire development remains a major focus of Rob's work. He created Behind the Mask, an ongoing training program focused on rules, mechanics, game management, professionalism, and advancement. His decades of experience on the field, combined with his work as an assignor and trainer, shape his approach to evaluating officials and helping them reach the next level.
Rob's approach to leadership is centered on developing people, creating opportunities, and building programs that support the continued growth of umpires and baseball throughout the region.
Director of Assignors
Trevor Bell serves as the Director of Assignors for Game Time Officials, bringing nearly 30 years of on-field umpiring experience and more than a decade of assigning experience to the GTO leadership team.
Trevor has also become a well-traveled umpire, working tournaments and events throughout the Pacific Northwest and Southwest. Over the past several years, his willingness to travel and build relationships outside his home area has helped bridge the gap between umpire groups in the Northwest and Southwest. Those relationships have helped create opportunities for officials to travel, work with new crews, experience different levels of baseball, and build connections beyond their local associations.
That experience gives Trevor a unique perspective as an assignor. He understands what is required of an umpire traveling to an event, the importance of communication and preparation, and the value of matching officials with opportunities that can help them develop.
As Director of Assignors, Trevor oversees and supports GTO’s assigning staff while remaining an active assignor himself. He works closely with the President and GTO assignors to create consistency in assignments, communication, and expectations throughout the organization.
Trevor’s approach emphasizes communication, accountability, fairness, and relationships. He believes assigning is more than filling open games. It is about knowing your officials, understanding their abilities and goals, and putting them in situations where they can succeed and continue to grow.
His experience as an umpire, traveler, assignor, and relationship builder makes Trevor an important part of GTO’s efforts to expand opportunities for officials both inside and outside their home region.
Director of Umpires & Onsite Operations

Over the years, he’s worn just about every hat in the game — from high school coach to official, board member, and tournament director. His deep understanding of both the player and organizational sides of youth sports gives him a unique perspective on what it takes to run smooth, fair, and fun competitions.

Director of Training
Ben Ellis serves as the Director of Training for Game Time Officials, where he leads the development of GTO’s umpire training program and helps prepare officials for success at every level of the game.
Ben began umpiring in 2008 and has spent the past 18 years developing his craft across youth, high school, summer, and collegiate baseball. Having progressed through those levels himself, Ben brings firsthand experience with the development process GTO seeks to provide for its officials—from learning the fundamentals and establishing professionalism to refining mechanics, game management, and communication for higher-level assignments.
In 2015, Ben attended The Umpire School in Vero Beach, Florida, receiving intensive instruction in professional umpiring mechanics, positioning, rules, game management, communication, and on-field professionalism. He has continued his development through camps, clinics, and extensive on-field experience, with a particular emphasis on two- and three-umpire systems.
Ben currently officiates collegiate baseball throughout the Pacific Northwest while remaining active at the high school and developmental levels. His experience working across multiple levels of the game allows him to understand both where developing umpires are starting and what will be expected of them as they advance.
His accomplishments include being named PBUA Rookie of the Year in 2013 and PBUA Partner of the Year in 2017. More importantly, Ben has remained committed to continuing his own development as an official and bringing what he learns back to the umpires around him.
As Director of Training, Ben works alongside GTO leadership to create a consistent development system built around strong fundamentals, rules knowledge, mechanics, communication, professionalism, and game management. His philosophy is that effective umpire development goes beyond simply teaching where to stand or how to make a call—it means helping officials understand the expectations, habits, preparation, and mindset required to earn opportunities at the next level.
Ben’s goal is to ensure GTO umpires have the instruction, feedback, mentorship, and opportunities necessary to become confident officials and continue advancing for as far as they want to take their umpiring careers.

Michael Emery began umpiring baseball in 1994 when he joined the Salem Baseball Umpires Association to receive training while preparing to umpire his son’s Little League games. What began as a way to become involved in youth baseball quickly developed into a long career in officiating.
Mike initially worked both Little League and high school baseball before focusing primarily on the high school game. He spent his early years working freshman and junior varsity contests before advancing to the varsity level, where he has worked extensively throughout his career.
Since 2000, Mike has also worked American Legion baseball at both the Single A and AAA levels. His postseason assignments include the Single A State Tournaments in 2002 and 2007 and the AAA State Tournaments in 2015 and 2016.
Mike began working college baseball in 2006 and has officiated at the NAIA, junior college, and NCAA Division III levels, adding another level of experience to a career that has spanned youth, high school, American Legion, and collegiate baseball.
His high school postseason experience dates back to 2000, with numerous state playoff assignments over the years. Mike represented SBUA at the 3A State Championship Game in 2007 and the 6A State Championship Games in 2010 and 2017. In 2014, he was recognized as the State Umpire of the Year.

He served as an SBUA Member at Large from 2004 to 2010, President from 2010 to 2022, Past President in 2023, and has served as Vice President since 2024. Throughout that time, he has helped train and develop officials through preseason meetings, clinics, and ongoing instruction.

Director of Administration
Karen Walling serves as Director of Administration and is a member of the ownership and leadership team at Game Time Officials. She oversees the administrative operations that support GTO’s officials, associations, leagues, and tournament partners.
As Game Time Officials continues to grow, Karen plays an important role in ensuring the organization has the systems and processes in place to support that growth. Her responsibilities include umpire pay and payment administration, background checks, required documentation, recordkeeping, onboarding new officials, and many of the human resources and administrative functions necessary to keep GTO operating efficiently.
Karen also oversees the administrative onboarding of new associations and organizations joining Game Time Officials. She helps coordinate the transition into GTO’s systems, establishes the necessary administrative and payment processes, and works to ensure new partners have a smooth experience from the beginning.

She also serves as a primary resource for officials and partners when questions arise regarding payments, documentation, onboarding, or other administrative matters.
